이 프로젝트는 경기도 화성시 우음도에 설치될 파빌리온 설계를 위한 지명 공모입니다.

시화방조제 공사 이후, 우음도는 평지가 되어 사람의 흔적이 사라졌고, 지금은 무성한 갈대와 억새만이 자생하는 공간으로 변모했습니다. 우리는 이 장소에서 과거의 흔적을 찾고자 했으며, 이를 잇는 매개체로 ‘바람’을 선택했습니다. 바람에 의해 회전하는 파빌리온의 날개를 통해, 바람이 들려주는 우음도의 이야기를 담고자 했습니다.

파빌리온 내부에 들어서면, 날개에 의해 산란된 빛들이 과거 바다 속 윤슬을 떠올리게 하며, 저무는 노을이 날개에 투영되어 파빌리온을 붉게 물들일 때, 외로이 어두워지는 현재 우음도의 분위기를 느낄 수 있습니다.

이 파빌리온은 방문객들이 자연을 감상하고, 휴식을 취하며, 대화를 나누는 공간이 되어 또 다른 이야기를 만들어가기를 기대합니다. 또한, 파빌리온과 그 주변 환경을 통해 과거 우음도의 흔적을 되새길 수 있는 경험을 제공하고자 합니다.

This project is a design competition for a pavilion to be installed at Uumdo, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do.

After the construction of the Shihwa Sea Dike, Uumdo has become a flat plain, erasing human traces, leaving only lush reeds and silver grass. In this place, we sought to find traces of the past, and as a medium to connect the past and present of Uumdo, we chose the wind. Through the rotating wings of the pavilion driven by the wind, we aimed to capture the stories of Uumdo told by the wind.

Upon entering the pavilion, the light scattered by the wings creates an experience reminiscent of the shimmering reflection beneath the past sea. As the setting sun is projected onto the wings, coloring the pavilion red, visitors can sense the solitude and dimness of the present Uumdo.

This pavilion is designed to be a space where visitors can relax, enjoy nature, and engage in conversations, while unfolding new stories. It also aims to provide an experience that allows them to reflect on the traces of past Uumdo through the pavilion and its surrounding environment.
